Voting for Sprout’s Film & Video Seed Award round launched at a special competitions shorts screening party hosted by The Sprout Fund and Pittsburgh Filmmakers at Melwood Screening Room, where attendees enjoyed a first look at 16 of the 35 project trailers eligible for funding awards of $10,000.
With free food catered by E2 Pittsburgh, plus complimentary drinks, the Competitions Shorts Screening Party encouraged community support for Pittsburgh’s vibrant film and video community. Attendees gathered to meet the filmmakers working to amplify community voices, highlight important issues, promote diversity, document history and call for civic action, all while celebrating the art of entertainment.
The Screening Party also featured a glimpse at Cornell High School’s This Day in Pittsburgh History, a project supported by Hive Pittsburgh that connects students with regional resources and supports the development and creation of 180 short documentaries describing key historical events in the Pittsburgh region.
Special thanks to Pittsburgh Filmmakers, for hosting the Competition Shorts Screening Party, E2 Pittsburgh for providing catering, Zuleikha Bjork for designing the program book, and Matthew R. Day for programming the screening.
